Renton Chamber of Commerce

INTRODUCTION

The Renton Chamber’s mission is to improve business and economic conditions, and the general welfare of the community. To that end, the Chamber is in the business of serving business, as it has for more than 76 years. The Chamber offers its members leadership development, networking opportunities, advocacy, and resources to promote business prosperity.

The Chamber partners with the City of Renton, the Renton School District, Renton Technical College, Valley Medical Center, and community and business leaders to promote and sustain a healthy business environment and a vibrant community for Renton’s families and workforce. As part of this effort, each year the Chamber coordinates important events that unite the community including the Ahead of the Class Excellence in Education Awards; Business Excellence Awards; New Teachers Breakfast; Citizen of the Year Awards Banquet; Economic Forecast Luncheon; State of the City’s Economy; and the Renton Farmers Market.

The members of the Renton Chamber of Commerce understand the importance of contributing to the success of the community. Representatives from world-class international corporations, large and small businesses, our local government, our educational institutions, and our state-of-the-art medical center are united through the Chamber to protect the economic viability of our community and keep Renton ahead of the curve.

This 2008-2009 Renton Chamber of Commerce Business Directory & Community Profile will help you to connect with Chamber member businesses. You can feel this confidence when you use this directory to find virtually every type of product and service any business or household could want. CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Welcome to Renton! This is a very exciting and ever changing period of time for the city. All aspects of our community are engaged in initiatives to ensure vitality for our citizens, the business community, and generations to come.   One of the primary values in Renton is the establishment of relationships and partnerships for the betterment of all stakeholders.  This unique collaboration of the City, the business community, the school district, Renton Technical College, and Valley Medical Center has helped our community to become a strong economic force in the Puget Sound region.

The economy in Renton continues to flourish as existing businesses diversify and new employers are attracted to the area.  Renton is excited to welcome the first stage of The Landing: an urban retail village, The Federal Reserve Bank, The Virginia Mason Athletic Center (Seattle Seahawks Training Facility), the expansion of Valley Medical Center and many other businesses of all sizes and cultures.

The Renton School District and Renton Technical College are collaboratively working with community organizations and local businesses to ensure quality educational programming where the focus is on lifelong learning, while encouraging students and adults to meet the ever changing educational and employment standards.  A variety of organizations are partnering to support English Language Learners in order to ensure educational and economic success.  Specialized programs are being implemented in the schools and local businesses to support new families to our community.

Other exciting changes that have taken place in our community include a change in leadership roles.  Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel begins her second year as School Superintendent and Mr. Denis Law took office as Mayor of the City of Renton on January 1, 2008.

The Renton Chamber of Commerce Business directory is a resource intended to be used by community members, individuals and businesses exploring relocation to Renton and those who just want to visit.  Renton is a destination location with a variety of places to stay, play, shop and dine.  Please come and join the Renton spirit!
