... When You Donate Blood

Be an Everyday Hero by Booking Your Appointment Today.

Happy National Blood Donor Month!

Donating blood is a simple way to truly give from the heart. An hour of your day dedicated to helping those in need can save a life.

January is National Blood Donor Month, making today the perfect time to donate. You have the power to impact someone's life in a very powerful way. That someone could be a friend or a loved one.

The truth is none of us know what may happen the next time we get behind the wheel of our car, and a blood donation could make the difference between a needed blood transfusion when tragedy strikes.

In January local blood supplies drop and patient demand is high.

This is why Bloodworks NW is actively scheduling Pop-Up locations for your convenience.

Bloodworks NW is now testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies. A press release from them states that Your test results will indicate if your immune system has produced antibodies to the virus, regardless of whether you ever showed symptoms.

This helps you to learn if you have the antibodies in helping critically ill coronavirus patients. Results are mailed two weeks after donation. You can find more details at https://www.bloodworksnw.org/covid19/study/antibody-testing

Make Your Appointment Today

There are 12 convenient donor centers located throughout Washington and Oregon for you to donate at. All locations are currently by appointment only and require you to wear a mask. Most locations offer same day appointments for those of us who aren’t thinking ahead.

Pop-Up locations are happening all over the sound. No guest or people under the age of 16 are permitted onsite, so be sure the kids have a sitter while you donate. You can get more information on that by visiting bloodworksnw.org/coronavirus.

You can make your next blood donation appointment by visiting BloodworksNW.org or call 800-398-7888.

We have two pop-up locations coming to Renton this month.

Blood donation is safe and is an essential role in supporting your local hospitals and patients in need.

Why Bloodworks?

Bloodworks NW is an independent, non-profit organization. Their physicians specialize in transfusion medicine. Making it a safe place for all blood donations. They also do Platelets, Plasma, Double Red Cell, and Cord Blood.

You can find out more about those options, and find out if you’re a candidate by speaking with your transfusion expert at your next donation appointment.

Depending on your blood type you have the power to sustain blood supply for multiple patients in our community.

It takes 800 donors a day to sustain the lifeblood of this organization.
Their organization has been around for over 70 years and has been a cornerstone of healthcare in the pacific northwest.
Helping to support research that transforms patient’s lives.

Donate to Win

When you decide to donate blood you will take with you the rewarding feeling of truly giving from self. But Bloodworks NW is always sweetening the pot by adding entries for fabulous prizes. Donations from local businesses who have rallied for the cause, helping reward your effort.

Everytime you donate you are automatically entered into a raffle. Everything from tickets to the Mariners to new electronics have been part of the fun.

Currently Bloodworks is running their Rev it Up Sweepstakes. Partnering with Haselwood Auto Group they are rewarding those in the community who have chosen to save a life by donating blood with an ultimate giveaway.

One lucky blood donor will win a brand new car! Not just any car, but your choice between nice pre-selected new vehicles in the Haselwood Auto Group inventory.

In that line-up they have two types of hybrid cars, a Mazda and a Jeep. Head over to their website for a full list of car options.

Now through March 17th every time you donate you will be entered.

The fun doesn’t stop there. After the March 17th deadline a new sweepstakes will be introduced. So everytime you donate you are not only giving, but have a chance to receive as well.

Nothing feels quite as rewarding as giving from your heart. Walking out of a blood donation center will have you feeling like the superhero you are. A caring generous community member who understands the benefits of helping their fellow man.

Do you part today by donating blood.

I started actively donating three years ago. It has become a part of my quarterly schedule. Always doing my final donation on Christmas Eve. It’s my favorite present. The one that goes to a stranger in need during the holidays.

Giving blood is an essential part of community. The need is high and you hold the key. Donate today and save a life.

Be sure to tune in to RentonLIVE! Wednesday Jan. 13 to hear Linda Lowry speak about this wonderful organization and to learn more about how you can make a difference.
