Let Your Creativity Run Wyld

At Wyldwood Creative

One of the many local treasures that finds itself closed right now is Wyldwood Creative. The new craft shop on South 3rd that sits between Wells and Williams. The inner artist in all of us comes out when entering the neatly organized shop. Leaving much of its room open for interactive art classes to take place.

Wyldwood Creatives owner Tawnee believes that there is an artist in all of us. She's just providing the space that allows you to explore and discover your own creativity. Hosting all kinds of classes allows artists of all ages to come to find the right medium that speaks to them.

Working with local crafters helps provide a wide range of classes and workshops to choose from. This creative community space is a place for all to join in and try something new together.

What You’ll Get

While you're arriving at a class or just browsing around downtown Renton, there is plenty to see here. It’s easy to get lost in ideas while surrounded by the large selection of unique and modern fabrics that dress the far wall. While the fabric gets your creative mind turning and project ideas come to mind, Wyldwood also carries notions and tools to help any craft project with its final touches.

Tawnee also carries cards, notebooks, craft kits, patches, buttons, and other fun items by local independent retailers like Greg Cook of Print Ritual. The face behind the Rainier Renton shirts sold at the Renton Farmers Market and Renton River Days

Tawnee understands how important the community is. The store hosts a “Maker of the Month”, featuring different artists’ work and even an opportunity to create with their guidance at one of the workshops.

How You Can Support This Business

During COVID19 shutdowns, classes are temporarily on hold, as are the normal business hours. However this hasn’t stopped Tawnee from continuing to support her mission. She has a mask tutorial on her Instagram story giving us all a shot to learn the skill and help so many people.

Below is a quick guide to making a mask, of course better made using quality fabric purchased at Wyldwood Creative.

She’s really feeling the love from the community right now. Customers have been reaching out to make sure this downtown Renton Gem doesn’t go away. There are a lot of options like paint by numbers, quilting, and embroidery kits that can be fun for people stuck at home, available to purchase online and pick up at the store. items ordered online are available for pick up 11-3 M-F or by appointment. She is also offering local delivery to Renton residents.

Tawnee has stayed very active on the stores facebook page where she has been keeping her followers up to date on items available to purchase. She also recently did a nice giveaway for Mothers Day, putting together gift baskets of seriously cool products for Mom.

Opening in Renton

I first met Tawnee at one of the Renton Chamber's night markets. A night where local artists from all over the region came out and made shop in some of our empty storefronts. Night markets are always fun and the Chamber sure knows how to find the right fit for such an event. This was Tawnee’s first introduction into the community that makes downtown Renton so vibrant. She found us and we fell for her.

Tawnee and her husband moved here 8 years ago and have made a life for themselves in our community. She's really appreciative of everyone in the Renton community, and feels very supported here.

Discover Your Inner Artist

Wlyldwood Creative is one of those businesses you love to see in the neighborhood. One that supports locally sourced products and encourages you, the shopper, to roll your sleeves up and get to work making something. The craft community in our area is super supportive and are always looking for ways to let you in on the fun. Wlydwood creative is just that. Your Renton outlet of connecting you to creativity.

Check out Wyldwood Creative Instagram, and support the cause. This is the kind of store that adds to the unique feel of our downtown core, and we do not want to see it go away.
