Renton in a Box: Celebrates Women Owned Businesses

Renton in a Box: Celebrates Women Owned Businesses

by Mary Clymer on March 16, 2021

Downtown Businesses Come Together to Create Excitement!

Saturday, March 27th, is the reveal of the second, Renton in a Box!

Women supporting women is a thing. I love it! And duh? Of course. We all should be helping women to be seen and recognized for their array of talents and gifts they bring to the world.

Being judgy and jealous is so passe. When one rises we all rise.

This is why I am so excited about what is happening in downtown Renton. The Downtown Partnership is hosting their second Renton in a Box event. This time is all about celebrating women owned businesses.

Treat yourself and your lady friends to this mystery box featuring products from women owned businesses located in Renton’s historic downtown. Along with the box you get access to a live comedy show featuring Monica Nevi. A Renton native (and Hazen High School graduate) who has been making the rounds all across the region with her quick wit and dry humor.

Explore the many unique shops and restaurants of the downtown core from the comfort of your own couch.

Continuing the celebration of women who rock, you will also be invited to a panel discussion with female entrepreneurs & business leaders as they talk about the ups and downs of being in business for themselves.

For a mere $65 you can get a taste of all that downtown has to offer.

Their last event was a date night theme, and was so popular that this event is almost completely sold out!

After you purchase one of like 5 (no joke) boxes left by clicking this link here, you will get information about box pick up. Starting the day before the event, Friday March 26th, boxes will be available for pick up in the downtown area. Don’t fret if you can’t make the trip as they have delivery options for an additional $10 if you are within 8 miles of downtown Renton.

Along with pickup instructions, you will also receive access to the Zoom event.

If you are hosting your own ladies night with your quaranteam of fierce females, you can add an additional bottle of wine or cider to the surprise box of goodies for only $15!

This virtual event is a way for you to support small businesses during this time. After a year in quarantine, topped with mass amounts of construction in the downtown core, you can bet these small businesses could use that extra support.

The Partnership isn’t going into details when it comes to what’s in the box. They don’t want to ruin the surprise, but if it’s filled with anything like what we saw in the Date Night box, then you are in for a treat.

Date Night included products and surprises from Urban Sprouts, Dubtown Brewing, River Valley Cheese, Boon Boona Coffee, and so many more!

While this box too will remain a surprise, I did get word that Wyldwood Creative, Common Ground Coffee & Cupcakes, and New Zen Japanese Restaurant are among the list of lady owned businesses you’ll find inside.

To reserve your “Renton-In-A-Box,” bundle visit rentonbox.eventbrite.com. Supply is limited (and by limited I mean there’s literally like 5 boxes left.)

Support Women Owned Businesses

Recognizing the effort women put into our community, doesn’t have to stop with the purchase of Renton in a Box. There are many ways to continue to support.

Use this opportunity to find out about a women owned business that you could be supporting. Then hop online to spread the love by sharing all your goods with your social network. Some of the best advertising on earth comes from happy customer testimonials. Remember to include #rentoninabox

A few Women owned businesses you can support here in Renton are…

Realize that your purchasing power goes a long way. When you choose to support a women owned business you are also supporting a family. These women powerhouses are just like me and you, they have families relying on them for food, and ballet classes. They are also more likely to pour that money back into the local economy using their own purchasing power.

Small business owners are keyed into the other businesses in the community and are often the best resource for finding all those hidden gems you’re looking for.

The next time you’re thinking about a purchase, consider heading to your local retailer like Sparkle or The Pencil Test rather than jumping on Amazon. Instead of having pizza delivered from Pizza Hut, consider a local pizza joint like Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta House or Smoking Monkey Pizza. Get out of the house! It will do you some good, and the support you offer a small business with your buying power is a good reason to pat yourself on the back.

Communities thrive when we support the businesses and people who make our corner of the world unique. Renton is lucky to have so many options to choose from. Women in business are working hard to make sure you have an authentic experience that keeps you coming back for more. So get out there and do your part to raise another female up. You will feel good knowing the difference you’re making for your community, and for women of the world everywhere.
