ABOUT THE CHAMBER
IT ALL BEGAN A CENTURY AGO
In 1909, two dozen businessman met in the Melrose Hotel Dining Room (now the Melrose Grill) to form a Chamber of Commerce to advance the community's interest. The original name was first established as the Renton Chamber of Commerce in 1924.
TODAY THE RENTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS . . .
The Renton Chamber’s mission is to improve business and economic conditions, and the general welfare of the community. To that end, the Chamber is in the business of serving business, as it has for decades. The Chamber offers its members leadership development, networking opportunities, advocacy, and resources to promote business prosperity.
The Chamber partners with the City of Renton, the Renton School District, Renton Technical College, Valley Medical Center, and community and business leaders to promote and sustain a healthy business environment and a vibrant community for Renton’s families and workforce. As part of this effort, each year the Chamber coordinates important events that unite the community including the Ahead of the Class Excellence in Education Awards; Business Excellence Awards; New Teachers Breakfast; Economic Forecast Luncheon; Eyes on Renton Business Leader Forecast; and its annual Business Expo.
The members of the Renton Chamber of Commerce understand the importance of contributing to the success of the community. Representatives from world-class international corporations, large and small businesses, our local government, our Small Business Development Center, our educational institutions, and our state-of-the-art medical center are united through the Chamber to protect the economic viability of our community and keep Renton ahead of the curve.
